KITCHEN
BEFORE AND AFTER
The heart of the home! The kitchen was also a total gut job, it looks like maybe the previous owners remodeled it in the 80's or 90's? So we tore out all cabinets, flooring, electrical, fixtures, ceiling....literally everything. The wall pictured below went too to open the kitchen up to the dining room and gave sight lines into the living room.
CHALKBOARD DIY
My husband's idea was to just take this shelf nook out and drywall it, but I thought it was unique and kind of charming. So all it took was some chalkboard paint and new shelves that I got unfinished from Menards. I added the extra hooks for coffee cups.
This was just a wall before, it was previously used as an eat in kitchen so the kitchen table was here. Now that everything is open there was no need for a second table and we gained extra storage space instead.
